Artist Statement

The July full moon, or Buck Moon in Native American tradition, is associated with the time of year when male deer are nearing the peak of antler regrowth. At this stage, the antlers tend to be rounded with a velvety covering. I had the opportunity to observe a lone buck by the light of the July full moon as he visited my garden in the middle of the night.
