The Waxing Gibbous Moon

Artist Statement
My inspiration for this piece came from looking up photographic images of the moon from online sources and from studying the moon.
I am fortunate to live on an island where light pollution is minimal which enables me to take a good look at the moon in its various phases throughout the month and over the sea and the beautiful reflections the light makes upon the water. I hope that I have used a variety of techniques to give this piece dimension, depth of shadow and colour.
I enjoyed using the different techniques and materials to make this piece, especially all the sparkle!
Techniques
I have used appliqué, fusible, hand stitching, crochet, machine quilting.
Materials
I have used broadcloth, cotton prints, nets, metallic threads, variegated threads.
