Artist Statement

The Waning Moon fights for attention with the rising sun, the brash light of the fiery orb quickly overwhelming the silver sliver that moves overhead throughout the day but remains unseen.

In the Northern Hemisphere, the waning crescent swings to the left; in the Southern Hemisphere, to the right. Both portend a New Moon and a dark night followed by a succession of gradually growing shapes until a Full Moon arrives with all its glory.

Techniques

Original design by the artist. Painted, fused and stitched fabrics on canvas; machine quilted over batting; faced edges.

Commercial cotton and synthetic fabrics, paint, fusing web, cotton/polyester batting, cotton canvas.
