Lisa is privileged to be serving as President of the Board of Directors of Studio Art Quilt Associates (SAQA). She is dedicated to helping SAQA members get to the next level of their personal artistic journey.
Lisa has degrees in Math and Computer Science and worked for 23 years in the aerospace industry. She retired in 2003 to focus her energies on volunteer work and her passion for quilting.
In addition to her own art, Lisa seeks to make the world a better place through the Healing Quilts in Medicine initiative, which commissions art quilts for installation in hospitals to improve the healing environment for patients and their families. Lisa is the chairwoman of Sacred Threads, a bi-annual quilt show and moving exposition that focuses on inspirational, religious and personal growth themes. She also serves on the board of directors of the Quilt Alliance, a non-profit organization dedicated to preserving the stories of quilts and their makers.
In 2010 she formed her own company, Giving Back Technology, to provide information technology services to non-profit museums, galleries and other art organizations. She frequently teaches quilting techniques and lectures on Healing Quilts in Medicine and Sacred Threads.
Cyndi Souder is an award-winning quilt artist whose work has been shown nationally. Cyndi teaches locally and nationally, as well as online for Craftsy. Her classes include surface design, machine quilting, design, and an ongoing series of art quilt classes. Much of her work involves creating celebration quilts for clients.
Cyndi is a Juried Artist Member of Studio Art Quilt Associates and is a BERNINA brand ambassador. She co-founded two art quilt challenges: Power Suits and Arts & Old Lace, both of which traveled nationally. In addition to her own book, Creating Celebration Quilts, she has written for a variety of national magazines and has appeared on Quilting Arts TV and The Quilt Show.
